What is this film festival about?

During the weekend of December 4-6 (postponed until 9-10 January 2021)hosted a Film Premiere event. Due to the corona virus situation, this event was online, The event was streamed live using Vimeo and Facebook. We ultimately showed 11 short films what will be premiered at his event in addition to numerous fake adverts that spiced up the Awards Ceremony.

Where did these short films come from?

They came from you! AATG members and non-members could submit a film to be shown. And are you inspired by what you saw then take note: this Film Festival ill be an annual affair. The next one is planned for the weekend 4-5 December 2021. If you feel intimidated because you have never done this before or do not own a professional video camera then do not worry: we will help get you started with some workshops (to be announced soon on this site) and it does not matter which equipment you use. A smartphone will provide all the quality you need.

More important than video quality is the story that you will bring to life on camera. Make us laugh, make us cry, enlighten and entertain us.

What sort of short film?

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences defines a short film as being less than 40 minutes. However we have decided to limit the length to between 1 minute and 20 minutes (including title and credits). There will be four categories:

  • Narrative (any genre: comedy, drama, horror, sci-fi etc.)
  • Documentary
  • Music or Art
  • Animation
There will also be four age categories:
  • Under 10
  • 11-13
  • 14-17
  • 18+

Will there be awards?

Absolutely! The films will be adjudicated by a jury who will give their feedback on all the films. The jury score will account for 50% of the total with the other 50% coming from the public vote. There will be prizes for:

  • Best film in each category and age-group (16 prizes)
  • Best actor (male and female in each age-group)
  • Best cinematography, awarded by the jury (1 prize for all categories)
  • Best sound, awarded by the jury (1 prize for all categories)
  • Best effects, awarded by the jury (1 prize for all categories)
  • Best music,,awarded by the jury (1 prize for all categories)

There will be a lot of categories and a lot of prizes - so have your speeches ready!

The theme of the 2021 AATG Short Film Festival is: Anything except ****ing Covid!!!
We are all universally sick of the subject, lockdown that a film on literally any other topic would be greatly appreciated. Seriously: it is your film and you can make it on whatever topic you like, but this is a please from the organisers (who are also the adjudicators ;-) )

Finally there will be the top three films, the winners will be selected by a combination of public vote and the jury.

The prizes for the 2021 AATG Film Festival:

The main prize is, of course. the glory and honour of winning such a prestigious award! For the our first 2020 festival we gave prizes such as smartphone gimbals, but the general feedback was that this was of limited usefulness for many people. So this year we will be giving cash prizes:
1st prize: €200
2nd prize: €100
3rd prize: €50

These prizes will be donated by our sponsor: Tachyon Security BV
